Pattaya is a great place to spend a holiday, either a two week, 1 year or a life time. I first came to Thailand 10 years ago and now come back 4 or 5 times every year.

Pattaya offers everything for everyone, of recent I have noticed a lot of changes in Pattaya, the city has more western couples enjoying holidays, more big shopping centers and nicer looking bars.

As a non smoker I am really pleased about the smoking ban in the go go bars and clubs

If you have never been to Pattaya – we at livepattaya.co.uk highly recommend it.

  2. Two-hour drive southeast of Bangkok and you are in Pattaya. This favorite Southeast Asian vacation spot is nestled along a picturesque bay on the East Coast of the Gulf of Thailand. A fascinating escape for pleasure-seeking holiday-makers. Every person could easily find diversions appealing to the individual taste and mood. Most likely any fantasy can be fulfilled, especially after sunset. After dark, it is a hunting ground beaming with neon lights and music, where fellow holiday-makers youth and aged alike, find an endless array of dining, shopping or entertainment establishments. Its festive nature and joyful atmosphere makes it a synonym for exotic carnivals and fun holidays, rewarding visitors with the long-lasting memories to cherish.

Pattaya, 147km south-east of Bangkok, is Thailand’s busiest beach resort with over 12,000 rooms available in hotels, bungalows and guesthouses spread along Pattaya Beach and adjoining Naklua and Jomtien beaches. Pattaya is the most active of the three, a crowded crescent of sand where jet-skis and power boats slice the surf and parasails billow over the palms all day long.Sunburned Europeans jam the beachfront road in rented jeeps and motorbikes.According to recent TAT statistics, an average one third of foreign tourists in Thailand visit Pattaya; in a typical November to March season Pattaya recieves around one million visitors each year, and it still continues to attract a loyal following of Bangkok oil company expats, conventioneers and package tourists, aswell as families.Pattaya got it’s start as a resort when American GI’s from a base in Nakhon Ratchasima began visiting the one-time fishing village on a regular basis in 1959.U.S Navy men from nearby Sattahip added to the military influx during the Indochina War years. There are still plenty of sailors around, but of many nationalities.National and international convention-goers make up another large segment of the current market, along with Asian golfers seeking out the twelve local golf courses, including courses designed by Robert Trent Jones and Jack Nicklaus.Pattaya is also acclaimed for its fantastic and large variety of seafood restaurants and greatly underpriced generally by international standards. One of the best things the Pattaya area has going for it is the diving centres. There are over a dozen nice islands off Pattaya’s shore. If you’re a snorkelling or scuba diving enthusiast, equipment can be booked at any of the several diving shops / schools at Pattaya Beach. Ko Laan, the most popular of the offshore islands, even has plenty of places to stay if you wish.

  7. Realist says:

    Pattaya is a shithole.

20,000 prostitutes. Open sewers. Filthy beach. The scum of the western world walking around in speedos and having sex on the beach. German and Russian mafia fighting with Thai motorcycle gangs to commit the most crime.

A joke of a police department, city planners who after 3 years can’t put cables underground. 5 malls and no galleries/museums or culture of any regard.

Good for old fat sex tourists who want to shag uneducated farm girls.

    That’s it.
